Description
Type of Improvement?:
Non Specific
How does it work?: Many contracts today especially for kitchens, bathroom and bedroom home improvements require full payment in advance of the goods being installed or service carried out. This practice negates for the consumer their "right of set off" meaning they cannot withhold part of the price if for some reason they are dissatisfied with the work. The only means of redress is to go to court which is very expensive and difficult. How to avoid this scam?: Never sign a home improvement contract that requires you to pay 100% of the cost upfront. Also offer the absolute minimum deposit you can get away with to retain as much power as possible. Scam reviews There are no reviews for this item. To write a review please register or login. |
